About Debbie

debbie-at-2.jpg

Debbie has always loved horses, but the training of them came out of necessity in the beginning. Having to make safe and reliable horses from scruffy little range ponies, helped develop her quiet, kind manner when working with horses (and people).

Being very competitive, she explored any opportunity in the horse world. Rodeo, Chariot Racing, Team Roping, Team penning and timed events were her main focus, but her passion was and still is working with young horses.
She has ridden with and taken instruction from some of the leading horsemen in the industry, but the highlight of her career was a tour of Spain with Ray Hunt, focusing on colt starting and problem horses. For 2 years Debbie worked as an assistant clinician with Bill Richey, NMPH, and since 2015 as the lead clinician teaching Equine confidence and De-spooking clinics in B.C.

Always looking for something to challenge herself and the horses she rides, she researched mountain trail. It seemed a perfect addition to enhance her training program with young horses. She continues to take many indoor and outdoor clinics from the leaders and national champions in mountain trail.  As one of the founders of the BC Mountain Trail Association, Debbie’s goal is to continue to learn and pass her knowledge on to other riders, helping develop the sport of Mountain Trail by providing training and clinics at the Mountain Trail Courses in Chilliwack and Kamloops.
